How to make payroll by class retro-active

I have changed my payroll to assign employee by class due to the business being split into physically separate businesses. Is there any way to make this class assignments retroactive to the beginning of the year?

How to make payroll by class retro-active

Welcome to the Community space, @srlorenc. I’ll help you with updating the starting date of your employee classes.

Yes, you can update the prior transactions class and set it up from the beginning of the year. To do so, we’ll need to access the Payroll Settings to make necessary changes that you want. I’ll show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Payroll Settings
  2. This will open the Preferences page.
  3. From there, navigate to the Company and Account section and then click on Accounting
  4. In the Classes section, choose if you want to use the same class for all employees, or different classes for different employees.
  5. Select OK, then choose a class for each employee, or assign one for all of them.
  6. Tap OK, then click OK again to save your work.

Once done, you'll be routed back to the Accounting Preferences Summary page. You’ll be prompted to select the Starting Date for the changes to take effect from. Just select the date under the Want to update current transactions, too?, then click Update.
