I'm here to ensure you can create an unscheduled payroll check in QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP), @klondikedoughboy.
You can run an unscheduled payroll to process payroll for your employee's raise before your next regular payroll date. Let me guide you through the process.
In doing this process, please know that we can only create unscheduled checks for the current pay period. To keep your payroll taxes error-free, the only available check dates are the dates that fall before your next payday and after your last check date.
Here's how to run the unscheduled payroll:
- Sign in to your QBO account.
- Click Payroll from the left menu, then select Employees.
- From the Run payroll drop-down, select Bonus Only, Commission Only, or Fringe benefits only.
- Based on your selection you may be asked additional questions. Enter any info about taxes or paycheck calculations (if applicable). Once complete, select Continue.
- Review the pay period and pay date. Then, choose the employees you'd like to pay.
- Select Actions, then Edit Paycheck to enter your pay details. You can enter hours, compensation, memos, or any other paycheck info as necessary. If you use QuickBooks Time, select Review Approved Time.
- Click Preview payroll. Then, review the QuickBooks bank account to track your payroll.
- Choose Preview payroll details, then Submit payroll.
I'm adding this resource for your reference: Create and run your payroll.
When you're ready, follow these steps to change the rate of your employee and the effective date:
- Go to the Payroll menu.
- Select the Employees tab.
- Click the name of the employee.
- Head to the Pay types section, then select Edit.
- Enter the new rate and make the other necessary changes.
- Click Save.
Additionally, you can visit this article about adding, removing, and renaming a pay type from your employee: Add or change pay types.
Also, I'm adding this article to see the complete list of available payroll reports in QBO: Run payroll reports. It also includes details about customizing, printing, and marking your payroll reports.
Please feel free to get back to me here for any additional questions about managing your payroll in QBOP. I'm always ready to help. Take care, and have a great day, @klondikedoughboy.
