I'm glad you've reached out to us, @paul-schurr. I’ll provide some information as to why your direct deposit status is pending.

Since you’ve process payroll using paper checks for your employee and recently changed to direct deposit, it’ll take two to three business days to confirm and activate your bank account. Your direct deposit status will be confirmed through email.

There are some factors you need to consider why your status is pending. I’ve listed some scenarios below:

  • Your account information hasn't yet been confirmed.
  • It’s possible that the funding bank account is verified, however, you’ll need to go back to direct deposit setup.
  • You haven't yet entered the bank details for the employee.

If the employee's information has already been entered and the status is still pending, you can review the test transaction and validate it in QuickBooks as well as with your bank. You can verify the amount to be input by contacting your bank. On your bank statement, the fee will display as QuickBooks: Verify Bank or Intuit: Verify Bank.

Here’s how:

  1. On the left pane, go to Payroll.
  2. Select Employees and click Finish payroll tasks.
  3. Tap Verify the test deposit now
  4. Enter the test transaction amount in both boxes (less than $1.00). Enter the pennies only, without a dollar sign or decimal point.
  5. Tap OK.

If the New payroll tasks button is not visible on your end, we can still verify the test transaction through Settings or the Gear icon. I'll show you how:

  1. Select Payroll Settings.
  2. Choose Company under Bank Accounts.
  3. Select Verify Account, then enter and confirm amount.

To confirm the test transaction using all other versions, you can check out this article for the detailed steps.

Once everything is settled, I’ve added these resources to help you in case you need to set up an employee and pay them electronically:

I’ve also included these guides about direct deposit and payroll reports:

If you have other payroll or QuickBooks concerns, please let me know in the comment below. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you also have other questions about Direct Deposit. Have a good day.
