I have 2018 for desktop and I am trying to permanently edit each employee's data to note different new hourly wages. Some are the new minimum wage and some are to compensate better workers. It isn't under payroll on the employee page (where is SHOULD be). Asking the simple question of "updating employee hourly wage" in help subjects get me closer to federal contracting than just updating hourly wages. (Yes, this is unnecessarily frustrating and I am frustrated...)
The employee's wages are on set on the employee record like all other things payroll related to the employee. Set them on the Payroll Info tab in the Earnings table.
Hello there, @alfromcolorado026.
Updating your employee’s payroll wages is my priority. With that being said, I’m here to help walk you through the process.
@BRC is correct! You can update your employee’s hourly wages on the Payroll Info tab in the Earnings table. Here’s how:
Also, you can edit a payroll item via the Payroll Item List. For a step-by-step instructions, you may check out this article: How to edit a payroll item.
If you want to use different hourly rates, you can set up a new Hourly payroll item for you to be able to distinguish one hourly rate from the other. You can then assign this new payroll item to a specific employee. Lastly, make sure your QuickBooks software and payroll tax table is updated prior to running payroll. This is to avoid getting incorrect calculations on your paychecks.
If you need further help with the steps above, I’d recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. A payroll specialist would be able to further assist you via secured remote access session.
