I need to know why my employees didn't get paid today.

There are several reasons your employees might not have received their expected pay, ne8.

 

Here are some common causes to consider:

 

  • There is an issue with the financial institution, such as delays in the direct deposit processing.
  • The scheduled pay date falls on a weekend or holiday, which may push payments to the next banking day.
  • Payroll was submitted after the 5:00 PM Pacific Time cut-off for processing. In this case, payments are processed on the next banking day.  
  • Employee bank account information is incorrect.

 

Let’s go through the reasons listed above to identify the issue and ensure that payroll is processed correctly.   

 

Also, the time it takes for employees to receive their pay depends on your payroll processing or lead time. To verify your specific funding time for your direct deposit, follow these steps:

 

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon and go to Payroll settings.
  2. Scroll to your Direct Deposit section.

 

If your employee hasn’t received their funds on the scheduled payday, I recommend contacting our payroll live support team. They can investigate the issue and help resolve it promptly.

The reason why this is occurring is due to QBO payroll having planned system maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause and hope to quickly complete the maintenance  to minimize any disruption of service during this time.

I just received email receipts from QBOL Payroll stating that Payroll has been taken from our accounts and employees will be paid today.

Do you have any idea when pay will go out today 8/29/25 since the system went under maintenance? This has been a huge inconvenience for everyone today. If you could quickly clear this up. Thank you.

It would be appreciated if there had been communication if it was planned system maintenance or even if it wasn't where was the email explaining what is going on instead of being in the dark with my employees expecting to be paid today.

There's been a delay in the notification when processing the payroll funds. However, there's no actual impact to the money movement, and the funds will be deposited soon.
