Is there anyway to change paid time off 'hours' to paid time off 'days'? My employees have a set number of paid absences and unpaid absences. Can I change hours to days?

For example, for 10 paid days, it shows 80 hours although not all of them work an eight hour day. Some are part time. I want it to show days and not hours.

Thanks for coming into this forum, cedarviewchildde. I can help provide information when managing employee paid time offs in QuickBooks Online.

In QuickBooks Payroll, we're unable to change paid time off hours to days. This will depend on how you set up employee's pay type and their working hours. For part-time workers, you can manually assign specific hours to be worked per day and a number of days per week.

To do this, manually set their pay types to Hourly, Salary, or Commission only. Then, enter specific hours to be accomplished per day.

  1. Go to Payroll, and select Employees.
  2. Then, choose your employee.
  3. From Pay types, click Start or Edit.
  4. Enter the rates for each pay type.
  5. Once done, select Save.

Additionally, you may want to set up a time off pay policy for other paid or unpaid time offs for your employees. Refer to this guide for more detailed inputs: Set up and track time off in payroll.

Once everything looks good, you can start running your payroll to pay employees' hours worked.

I've included this article that may come in handy in the future to help you pay and file your state and local taxes: Pay and file payroll taxes and forms in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Just keep me posted on this thread if there's anything else you require additional assistance with when managing employees' paid time offs in your account. Stay safe and have a good one!
