It will not allow me to direct deposit payroll for my employee.

the radio button only allows for paper check.

Hello, johnnydunn. I can show you how to pay your employee via direct deposit in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

 

You can choose how your employees get paid by going to their Profiles. I'll walk you through the steps:

 

  1. Navigate the Payroll menu and select Employees.

  2. Click the name of the employee.

  3. Scroll down to the Payment method section.
  4. Click Edit.

  5. Choose Direct Deposit from the drop-down menu.
  6. Enter the required information.
  7. Click Save.

It will not allow me to direct deposit payroll for my employee.

I have done all those steps and it shows my employees direct deposit info. But when I get into the actual payroll where I hit the button to process it, just on that screen it says paper check. All the other screens say direct deposit. So I want to make sure it’s actually going to direct deposit the money

Hi there, annie. Thank you for considering the Community to assist you with your direct deposit concern in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

If the system says that your employee will be paid via paper check in the run payroll window. Then they will be paid via paper check. Since you want them to get paid via direct deposit, we’ll need to void the paper check and refer to Step 2: Create your paychecks and send your payroll section to re-create it: Create and run your payroll.

 

Before that, let’s make sure that you have set up your company payroll for direct deposit to start paying your employees directly to their checking, savings, or money market accounts.

 

After that, we can go over to your employees to set them up to get them paid in this option. Since you’re done setting up your company, let’s proceed to get the direct deposit authorization form by following the steps below: 

 

  1. Go to the Taxes menu and select Payroll Tax.
  2. From there, select Filings, then, Employee Setup.
  3. Next to Authorization for Direct Deposit, select Bank Verification.
  4. Select View.

 

Lastly, we can go over your employee’s payment method to pay them via direct deposit:

 

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and select Employees.
  2. Select your employee and navigate to the Payment Method section.
  3. Click, Start, or Edit to set it up or make changes.
  4. In the select payment method window, click the dropdown and select Direct Deposit.
