Buy nowHi - I've been having an issue with one of our local tax entities, KC MO. QBO shows three different entries on payroll tax reports, even though there is only one entity. For some reason as of July 1, some of the local taxes for that entity are now showing as needing to be paid weekly, even though they are set up to auto pay quarterly. I have been on the phone for over 30 minutes and can't seem to explain this clearly enough to get assistance.
In payroll settings if I delete the new schedule of paying the taxes monthly will that automatically put the funds that have been collected for this in the right payment schedule? Also, how do I get rid of the multiple entries for KC? This impacted employees at the end of 2022 as some of them were told by the city the did not pay enough tax (because the city didn't see the second line on their W2).
I recognize the urgency to correct local taxes and complete payroll tasks in your account, MToddKC. Let me share insights and ensure you'll get routed in the right direction for help.
Yes, funds will automatically move to the right payment schedule once changes from the payroll settings are modified to auto-pay quarterly. However, you'll need to consider that you're able to apply changes to your tax payment schedule if you haven't made any tax payments yet for the current year.
If you need to modify your schedule for a past quarter, or you've already made tax payments in the current year, it's best to reach out to our QuickBooks Payroll Support team. They have the tools to review your account and provide real-time assistance in getting this resolved. Also, since we're unable to delete and recreate these multiple entries showing on your payroll tax reports, it's best handled by our support team to help you correct them.
Additionally, I recommend contacting your local tax agency to help you amend these corrections on your tax forms and filings and fix impacted employees from their taxes and W2s.
Furthermore, I'm adding these guides to help manage tax forms and payments and review filed tax forms and paid tax payments:

Support was not helpful. We spent 45 minutes on the phone and they could not explain how the system got changed from quarterly to monthly (nor get it to change back) or why I have multiple entries for KC MO. Our advisor has suggested looking for a new payroll system.
