Manually enter Payroll - Tax line mapping

I manually performed Payroll outside of Quickbooks for January 2024

How can I enter the payroll in to the company check register?

For example, normally Quickbooks has a paycheck and shows the items such as

Federal Witholding

SS company

SS Employee

Medicare Company

Meidcare Employee

Medicare Employee additional

If I go to the check registry and add a check to the US treasury, and then attempt to enter in each of those in the account or tax line mapping field, they don't exist.

I tried converting QB2020 to Manual Payroll, but it will not let me do a paycheck in the past.

How do I fix this??

You'll need to convert to manual payroll successfully first, split. This way, we can record paychecks even if you don't have a payroll service subscription within QuickBooks.

Let's start by using ensuring your internet connection is offline or not connected to your computer. This will allow it to function appropriately. After that, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
  2. Click Payroll & Employees from the left menu, then go to the Company Preferences tab.
  3. Under QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Features, select the Full Payroll radio button.
  4. Tap OK.

Now that you've set it up, you need to manually enter the payroll data for your paychecks. To do so, go to the employee's profile to add payroll items for federal withholding, SS, and Medicare deductions or contributions. Follow the steps below:

  1. Select the Employees menu, then click Employee Center.
  2. Tap New Employee, then enter the necessary info.
  3. On the Payroll Info, you can add items or taxes.
  4. Hit OK.

To learn more about this, refer to this article: Set up manual payroll without a subscription in QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done, run the paycheck as you would normally do.

Additionally, I recommend seeking help from your accountant for more guidance on the tax line mapping field.

To resolve this, I went ahead and created a paycheck in the current time.  Once created, I paid all the liabilities and changed the date to the previous January date.    The only side effect is the PayStub shows the future date as the pay day...but that does not seem to hurt anything
