Our coffee shop has started a "prep shift" that is only bottling products for wholesale. We have a separate pay rate for that shift, how would I set this up in payroll?

Hello there, @calleryj.

You'll have to set up a different hourly rate for that specific employee .Then manually identify how many hours each rate. Once you run payroll, these rates will appear in the table and you'll need to enter the hours.

Here's how:

  1. Click Payroll from the sidebar menu, then go to the Employees tab.
  2. Locate the employee's name, then click Edit employee.
  3. Under the How much do you pay this employee? section, select Add additional pay types (if you haven't selected any other pay types) or click the Edit icon if you have.
  4. Select Add an hourly rate.
  5. Add a description and enter a dollar amount for the hourly rate.
  6. Click Done to finish the process.

Also, I've added these articles that you can use in case you'll want to run several reports and how to compute the hourly rate and its FAQS in QuickBooks:

Keep in touch if you need any more assistance with this, or there's something else I can do for you. I've got your back. Have a good day!
