Pause form 941 filing

How do I pause filing for form 941? I want to keep going with the withholding and automatic filing of other forms, but we need to file 941 manually since we need to attach form 8974 and quickbooks doesn't support that.

Pause form 941 filing

Hello there, @Poutine.

I'll share information about the Form 941 filings in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll.

Please know that stopping a filed Form 941 isn't possible. It can't also be canceled if you filed them electronically. However, you'll want to file them manually so you have control over when to file them.

If you've already filed them and need to correct or change them, I recommend reaching out to our QBO Payroll Support Team so they can guide you on the best process. Thus, they can also process a correction or amendment for it.

Here's how you can reach out to them:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Enter your query from the Type or Ask Something field.
  3. Click Enter on your keyboard to send it.

You can check our available hours when contacting support to ensure we address your concerns promptly.

Learn more about canceling a tax payment or form filing in QBO Payroll by reading this article: Cancel or delete payroll tax payments and forms.

Additionally, you may also want to run payroll reports in QuickBooks. This will help you view helpful information about your business and employees: Run payroll reports.

I'll be around if you need further assistance with filing payroll forms. I'm very eager to help. Take care always.

Pause form 941 filing

Can I stop only the 941 filing by QBO, or do I have to stop all automatic filing (including other state filing)?  Is it all or nothing?

Thanks for the prompt response, Poutine.

When you turn off automatic filing in QuickBooks, it will also affect all your state forms that are set up for e-pay and e-file.

Also, I'll be sharing these links that will help you view your past forms and payments in QuickBooks:
