payroll check

Payroll checks were created in the correct business however, the owner wrote the checks out of another business account.  I wasn't aware of this until several weeks later and the checks have been cashed already. How can I correct this?

Thanks for reaching out to us, @lydbrewer

I want to ensure your concern about payroll checks is taken care of. However, I have to ask for some details about your concern. This way, I can provide the best solution.

May I know if your other business account is also connected to QBO? Also, the one you wanted to correct is where the check got cashed out while leaving the one that is correctly recorded in the system?

Please get back to me with more information about your check concerns. I'll be keeping an eye out for your response to this.

payroll check

The other business is also connected to QBO but 2 separate businesses and 2 separate bank accounts.

The payroll checks were created in the correct business;

But they were written on the incorrect business checks and cashed in the incorrect business.

The payroll checks were not written from the correct business and therefore not cashed from the correct business.

Thank you for helping.

Thank you for getting back to us and for additional details, @lydbrewer.

I can share some info so you can fix the balance for the accounts.

To resolve the balance on incorrect accounts, you will need to create a Journal Entry to offset the amounts processed in a different account.

I'd suggest you consult an accountant to make sure your transactions will be accurate.
