Payroll direct deposit keeps getting delayed.

Payroll was scheduled on 4/25/24.  Everyday since, when I've logged on to check the status, I get this message at the top of the Run Payroll screen "Employees will get paid on Wednesday, May 01, due to direct deposit processing time. You can pay them via paper check for this pay period in order to pay them sooner." but it hasn't always been May 1st.  It bumps out a day, every day.  My direct deposit speed is set to next-day. All employer and employee forms are uploaded. What's going on?

Payroll direct deposit keeps getting delayed.

Hello there, haleighmaedemoves. I can see the urgency of this direct deposit that keeps getting delayed in your QuickBooks Online Payroll account.

It seems that the issue you are encountering with the direct deposit processing time bumping out a day each day is likely due to the following reasons:

  • If the payday falls on a non-banking day or holiday, the funds will be posted in the employee's bank account on the next banking day.
  • Your direct deposit speed is set to the next day, which means you need to submit payroll by 5:00 PM Pacific time the day before payday for the employees to get paid on the scheduled payday.
  • If you miss the cutoff time, you cannot cancel the direct deposit and will have to wait for the next available payday.

To resolve this issue, you should ensure that you are submitting your payroll by the 5:00 PM Pacific time cutoff the day before the scheduled payday. If you miss this deadline, you may need to consider issuing paper checks for that pay period to pay your employees.

Additionally, I recommend reviewing your payroll calendar and ensuring any upcoming non-banking days and holidays that could impact the direct deposit processing timeline. You may visit this article for your guide on direct deposit funding time: When to send your direct deposit payroll.
