payroll history missing

My computer just died and the last backup that I have is end August.  Since we used QB payroll, is it possible to get the records from them?

I'm glad you've reached out to us. Let me help you record the missing payroll data in your QuickBooks Desktop. 


Good to know that you're using QuickBooks payroll. In this case, what you need to do is enter historical paychecks to restore your missing payroll data. To do this, let me walk you through the steps: 

  1. At the top menu bar, click Help.
  2. Choose About QuickBooks. Press Ctrl + Alt + Y or Ctrl + Shift + Y to open the Setup YTD Amount window.
  3. Click Next and enter the Date of the Earliest QuickBooks payroll date.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Select Create Payment.
  6. Provide the information under Prior Payments of Taxes and Liabilities
  7. Click on Accounts Affected and select the appropriate option.
  8. Click OK.
