I want to ensure you can export the payroll item, TZTerri.
Once you export data from QuickBooks Online (QBO), you'll have the option to save it wherever you want. If it's not in your Downloads section, check your Mac's default save location or any other location where you might have saved it.
Payroll and employee data downloaded from the program are typically stored in the Downloads folder by default. Check your browser's download history to locate the file. Use these keyboard shortcuts if needed:
Once opened, locate the downloaded payroll data and click the Show in folder link to view the file path.
If the issue persists, I suggest contacting our Payroll Support Team. They can pull up your account in a secure manner and investigate further. Please know that encountering data issues isn't the kind of service we want you to experience.

Additionally, you can check this article about accessing payroll reports in the future. It includes the description of each report and the information you can get: Run payroll reports.

After many attempts over a period of two days, I finally managed to get logged in using Chrome.
Downloads seem to work properly using Chrome. But Safari is my preferred web browser, and what I've always used. So I don't know why all of a sudden accounting data does not download in Safari. It says it downloads, but it's not.

Thank you for getting back to the Community, TZTerri.
There have been no reported problems with downloading accounting data using the Safari browser. However, browser cache files can sometimes prevent you from downloading. Dealing with browser-related issues, the method for clearing the cache is slightly different for each browser.
To clear Intuit-specific cookies in Safari, follow the instructions provided below:
Once done, add Intuit as a trusted site in your browser. Here's how:
