Per Paycheck Deductions not Per Week

My employees are paid as soon as they get a job finished, so I run multiple paychecks a week.

They are not set on a regular hourly wage but get paid per mile for their deliviers.

I am needing to set up a deduction for "driver training".   I do not want to set a per week amount but rather deduct $35.00 per paycheck.     So the money deducted for driver training can differ from week to week depending on how many deliveries they complete.

Is there a way I can set this up?

Thank you!

Per Paycheck Deductions not Per Week

Creating deductions is my specialty, shawkinsbk. I'll gladly show you the way.

You can assign deductions in QuickBooks Online on your employees' profiles. Here's the complete process:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then select Employees.
  2. Select the employee's name.
  3. In the deduction section, select + Add a new deduction or + Add deductions.
  4. From the Deductions/contributions ▼ drop-down menu, choose New deduction/contribution.
  5. Choose a Deduction type and Type from the small arrow ▼ icon.
  6. Enter Provider name(appears on a paycheck).
  7. From the Amount per pay period ▼icon, choose $ amount or % of gross pay and enter the $ amount or percentage.
  8. Select, then Done.

Per Paycheck Deductions not Per Week

I pay multple checks out per pay period and it really depends on the week.  I am wanting to do a PER CHECK (not pay period) deduction.

Is there a way to do this?

Per Paycheck Deductions not Per Week

I can provide a workaround where you can deduct an amount per paycheck, shawkinsbk.

The deduction takes place every pay period or pay schedule. And, QuickBooks calculates your payroll taxes on year-to-date amount instead of per transaction.

However, you can create unscheduled check where you can change the check date. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the  Payroll menu, then Employees.
  2. Click Run payroll.
  3. Find the employee you want to pay, and then select Create another check.
  4. Enter employee compensation, including any salary adjustments, vacation or sick hours, and other pay types.
  5. Confirm the pay period and check date.
  6. Select Preview Payroll, and then Submit payroll.
  7. If you're creating a paper check, hand write or print the check and give it to the employee by the check date.
  8. Select Finish payroll.
