printing payroll checks in QBO

Our normal vendor checks print perfectly but when I tried to print a payroll check, things were all over the place. If I mess with the printer alignment, it will mess up the vendor checks alignment. Why would this happen? Do I need to purchase a few "blank checks" so it doesn't matter what the alignment is? I have been reading through to discussion groups and paycheck printing has been a problem for many years that has been totally ignored by QBO.  By the way our checks were purchased from QuickBooks so that is not the problem. What can I do? What have all you others done to bypass this problem? I was hoping I could make a "paycheck" template but I don't see how to do this. Did I say how much I hate QBO but absolutely loved QB Desktop?

I know how you can fix alignment issues when printing payroll checks, @bshell2. Allow me to guide you through the detailed process so you can achieve your goal.

It's indeed essential to print paychecks accordingly if you pay employees through paper checks in QuickBooks Online Payroll. Although creating a paycheck template is unavailable, you can rectify alignment concerns when printing paychecks using QuickBooks-compatible checks.

Here's how:

  1. From the Gear icon, choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Select Edit in the Printing section.
  3. Choose QuickBooks-compatible check paper, then pick Print paycheck and 1 pay stub or Print paycheck and 2 pay stubs.
  4. Click Align check and select Print alignment form to print a sample check.
  5. After following the onscreen instructions, close the window, then proceed to the succeeding directions.
  6. Key in the letter and number that best fits the context.
  7. Hit Save, and then Done.

Moreover, you can generate various payroll reports to gain valuable insights from your business and employees, which you can utilize for effective financial planning.

printing payroll checks in QBO

QBO Payroll is the absolute worst.  QBO overall is so much worse than the desktop version.

I am also trying to figure out how to print three paychecks per page, like I can do on QB Desktop.  the "Standard" print version.  There are only the two options, both of which take up the whole page.  I have to rip off each check, tape it to a piece of paper each time.  QBO is so dumb!

Your time is valuable, and I can imagine how inefficient it must be to rip off each check and tape it to a piece of paper every time, @Stad1um-22-71. Please know that we're actively working on solutions to make QuickBooks more user-friendly for tasks like paycheck printing.

At the moment, the option to print three paychecks per page is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. I suggest looking for a third-party application to help you with this task. You can simply go to the Apps menu, then select Find apps and search for a suitable application.

I also recommend sending feedback to our developers about this limitation. They can review your suggestions to improve the product and enhance your experience in QuickBooks. Here's how to send your request:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Click Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then, select Next to submit feedback.

Moreover, you can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
