Hello,
I know Quickbooks can rack sick and vacation PTO, but is there a way to track personal days that are paid time off?
Yes, that's correct, @MHO. QuickBooks Desktop is capable of tracking sick and vacation paid time off. We can collaborate to establish new paid time off categories within QuickBooks Desktop.
To begin with, you will establish time-off policies such as paid or unpaid time off. If necessary, add time off anytime if an employee requires additional leave. However, you can track them by Hourly wages, Annual wages, Commissions, and Bonus based.
Here's how to add paid time off:
1. Select Employees, then Employee Center.
2. Select the employee's name.
3. Select Payroll Info, and enter PTO name and hours.
4. Choose Hourly wages, Annual wages, Commission, and Bonus based and press the Next button.
5. Do you want to add them as Regular Pay, Overtime Pay, Sick Pay, or Vacation Pay?
6. Choose Expense account and click Finish and OK.
If you're referring to a specific feature or function within QuickBooks Desktop related to paid time off, feel free to add them here in this thread. It will help me provide you with the most accurate information. Have a pleasant day, @MHO.
Thank you for your response, but please allow me to clarify my question.
If an employee gets 24 hours sick PTO a year, and 80 hours vacation PTO a year, this can be tracked in the payroll info sick/paid vacation button.
But if an employee ALSO gets 16 hours personal PTO, where and how can this be tracked?
Hi MHO_dk,
I appreciate you for clarifying your concerns.
As of now, we can only set up sick and vacation PTO in the system. I can see how crucial it could be to be able to track an employee's personal PTO.
With that, I suggest sharing a proposal with our developers to have a feature to input personal PTO for employees. Here's how:
Moreover, I've added this article as your guide in paying employees: Create and run your payroll.
I'm just around whenever you have concerns about tracking employees' paid time off.
MHO_dk,
I am going to request the same thing from under the Product Suggestion. It seems that with the new PTO law in Illinois that there is a clear distinction between the PTO and vacation and they are not interchangeable terms.
I requested it also and suggest that others do so as well. Maybe if there are enough people requesting it, they will add it as a feature.
