I'm also curious as to what other software other professionals are looking at. The tax preparer in my office uses Drake and I've checked into their payroll stuff. It's a lot more manual, but I know their customer service for the tax software is A+.. So thinking of switching.
You may also consider Gusto to integrate with QB Desktop. Their support can help to migrate payroll data from QB and you will also get cashback for opening a new account.
