QBE, desktop. Prevailing wage rates per job, per employee skill.

New to QB, using Ent. desktop for contractors.  Using weekly timesheets where I enter their time for each day of the week.  I want QB to automatically pay the prevailing wage rate for each job that an employee works on.  The p.w. rate is different for each job and each skill level on that job.  I need help with setting this all up to pay the correct rate.  I don't want my payroll clerk to be responsible for "remembering" which skill level to pick for every employee at the time of entering the hours for each day for each job.  I would love to speak to someone who actually uses this feature in QB desktop because I'm getting nowhere with QB support calls.  Thanks

QuickBooks won't do what you want. You can set employees up with multiple earnings items, each with the appropriate rate, but it won't automatically select an item based on the Job on order to set the rate for that job.

Thank you for responding.  So, I have to set up an earnings item for each skill on every job with the corresponding pay rate, then rely on the payroll clerk to select the right one when entering time for each employee?  That is risky.  It causes a lot of problems for contractors if one person is underpaid just once.  Is there a more full proof way?
