QBO changes formatting from >2% to )2% in account name

In my Chart of Accounts, I have an Account Name of "shareholder >2% salary" (Payroll Wage Expenses) for my >2% Shareholders. This makes it easier to gather the data needed for TurboTax which uses this same category.

However, in the Payroll Settings|Accounting Preferences section: QBO changes this

from "shareholder >2% salary"

to "shareholder )2% salary"

so that I'm left with a second listing in my Chart of Accounts, one with a ">" sign, the other with a ")" symbol. I then have both items listed in my 'Profit & Loss' statement.

I can 'fix' this by merging the two names in my Chart of Accounts, but I have to do this after every payroll to have the line item listed correctly in my P&L statement. First world problems, but it is annoying that the programming/coding is not consistent.

cheers!

QBO changes formatting from >2% to )2% in account name

Hi there, @rjp21.

I appreciate you taking the time to express your concerns about the changes in format in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Upon checking here on my end, the Account Name and the Accounting Preferences still have the same format. For now, let us do some troubleshooting steps to determine if the issue is related to your browser.

To begin, please open an incognito window. This will prevent your browsing history from being saved. You can use the following keyboard shortcuts based on the type of browser you are using:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If the private browsing session works, you can clear the browser's cache to improve the program's performance. You can also use other supported, up-to-date browsers as an alternative which will provide the best and most secure experience with QuickBooks.

For future reference, I will also add this article to guide you in matching your bank and credit card statements: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Please keep me posted on how the troubleshooting steps go. I want to ensure that this is taken care of.

QBO changes formatting from >2% to )2% in account name

Hello @Clark_B ,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I use Chrome for my qbo browser. I tried replicating the issue using a private window with both Chrome and Firefox. Same issue: The column on the right in the Accounting Preferences section lists ")2% shareholder" instead of ">2% shareholder".
