Quickbooks debited payroll from the wrong account and will not let me edit the transaction in the register?

Let's go to the Accounting Preferences and modify the account where you want to deposit your payroll. There will be a message that asks you to enter dates. We'll have to select the dates that the payroll tax payments were deposited to the wrong register. Let me guide you how:

1. Go to the Gear Icon. 
2. Select Payroll Settings under Your Company.
3. Choose the Preferences tab.
4. Select Accounting Preferences to correct account.
5. After changing the affected account, I'd recommend scrolling-down to the bottom of the page. From there you'l be able to click OK and enter the Starting Date of the Update.

Afterward, the payroll tax payments will be deposited to the right bank register. Also, you can pull up the Payroll Tax Payment report to review the payments for the period you entered. Go to Reports on the left side and enter Payroll Tax Payment in the search box.
