Buy nowFor the last month, whenever we go to click "email" on the Send Forms > Paystubs screen, it freezes QB instantly. We've tried this on multiple machines, with multiple company files and even made a new one. We are using the built in email from Quickbooks. If I send an invoice through the QB Email server, it works just fine. However, the paystubs freeze everything. Same thing if we go to File > "Send Forms". Same thing if we switch to multi-user mode and it fails to switch because the file is still in use, it freezes.
Our main focus is the paystub freezing. I've spent a total of over 9 hours now with tech support on the phone with [name removed] but all they did was make things worse. Now we have rough paystubs, fake company files, all of our settings for our firewall was lost, and LOTS of time wasted doing STUPID THINGS. She would ask me if the server has M$ Office, I said no, that's why we use QB Email server. Then she asks me to open up the program manager and run Excel. That's just a small example of the incompetency. They REFUSE to let me speak to ANYONE else at Intuit, including a higher level support that I could talk to. I was literally fixing things she was breaking and doing her job, it was pointless everything she had me try.
I wish I could get someone else to help or actually figure out what's wrong (I suggested to run and pull a program log, she had no idea what that is).
Has anyone else successfully fixed this issue? I saw there were hundreds of other people that seem to have this same issue. The only resolution I saw was for people who had brackets in the employee names, but we do NOT have brackets on any name in the employee list.
The original message should have said "Print Forms > Paystubs" is what is freezing us and what the whole thread is about. Then also that "File > Send Forms" also freezes us.
I was going to say the same thing!

If QuickBooks is freezing, there could be several possible causes:
There's a few troubleshooting processes you can try to see if QuickBooks will stop freezing. Initially, I'd recommend running Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This can help fix common errors. It also shuts down any open background processes QuickBooks uses and runs a quick repair.
Here's how:
If your books continue freezing after completing the troubleshooting steps above, there's a couple more processes you can try. Review Solution 2 and Solution 3 in our Fix issues when QuickBooks has stopped working article.
In the event you've performed all of the troubleshooting processes mentioned above, but QuickBooks is still freezing, you'll want to continue getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.
Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any questions. Have a wonderful Friday!
This is NOT a working solution.
I am having the same issue with QB freezing when emailing a paystub. Running Windows 11. One of the problems QB needs to address is that the Tool Hub and File Doctor are programed for Windows 10, so they aren't fixing much if anything at all.
Support is useless. The staff do not speak English well and try to fix everything through the back door instead of actually resolving the issue. If you do get an American, they just read you their troubleshooting manual which tells you to do everything the website says, and accomplishes nothing.
Intuit! If you actually are able to resolve this problem, let us know!!!
Completely agree. I just got stuck in a loop with QB support - they do not have a solution for this. Hate to see you guys have been dealing with this all this time. Unfortunately, still having the same problem in 02/2026.
Just dealt with this myself, since QB Support demands to have your license numbers before helping with technical issues. Turns out there is a very simple solution that fixed this problem. I did the verify and rebuild. I did the turning off and back on. I did the QuickBooks Tool Hub (all options). I even updated the computer and intel drivers. None of it worked.
The problem was that whenever I tried to print paystubs, QuickBooks was looking for a default printer. As soon as I set one of the printers as default, it works again and the paystubs print like normal.
Thank you for nothing, as per usual, QuickBooks! They did not need the license numbers or anything else, imagine that, Jerick (employee who left the chat and hung on me while I was still asking questions)! Literally just needed ONE COMPETENT PERSON to know IT, and they couldn't even manage that.
