How can I switch my plan to add payroll?

I'm here to guide you in switching your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) plan to another QuickBooks product (QuickBooks Online (QBO)) so you can add payroll service. This will help you in managing your employees and pay them accordingly.

Since you need even more room to grow your business and run payroll, you can move to QBO. But before doing so, please note that this process is irreversible. You can't go back to QBSE once you switch to the said platform.

Whenever you're ready, you'll first have to download all of your work from QBSE. This is a good idea to hold on to your work for your records and future use. Just go to the Reports menu and in the Tax details section, download a report for each tax year you have.

After that, you need to download your QBSE data (transactions) in a CSV file and upload them into QBO. Here's how:

1. In QBSE, go to the Transactions menu.
2. Select the transaction types, accounts, and period you want to download from the drop-down menus.
3. Select the download icon at the top of the transaction list.
4. Save the file somewhere that's easy to find, like your Windows desktop.

Once done, you're now set to switch your plan by signing up for QBO.
