I'm here to remove the Unemployment filing for Virginia that keeps showing up on QuickBooks, michael.fonte.
This happens if an employee lives in Virginia, but works in a different location. If you aren't required to file taxes in that state, you can change the filing method.
Let me show you how:
- Go to Payroll, then Employees.
- Click the name of the employee to open the profile.
- Click Edit employee.
- Proceed to the Pay tab, then click the Edit pencil icon from the What are the [employee's name[ withholdings?
- Click Virginia states taxes.
- Select Do not withhold (exempt) from the Filing status, then Done.
Once done, log out and sign back into QuickBooks for changes to take effect. If the unemployment tax still appears on the tasks, you can archive them it won't keep showing up.
I'm adding this link if there are other things you need with your employees: Edit or change employee info in payroll.
Keep me posted if you have follow-up questions about this. I'm always right here to help you with payroll.
