Hello there, @mmayes.
The 1096 tax information summarizes the details from the 1099 forms you're submitting for the tax year. There isn't a need to file the form since it goes along with your 1099s once you e-filed them using our E-file Service.
You're able to view your 1096 form through the Prepare 1099s feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let me guide you how.
- Go to Expenses.
- Select Vendors.
- Click Prepare 1099s.
- Enter all information correctly for the tax year.
- Select Print and mail.
- Choose the 1096 Form. (Please see the screenshot below)
From there, you can print your 1096 tax information. This way, you can keep a copy for future use.
Also, the IRS Form 1096 and 1099s lets you effectively track the money you paid to a non-employee. You can learn more about this by checking out this article: 1099 FAQs. It includes details about 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, and 1099-K.
Don't hesitate to drop a comment below if you have other 1096 concerns or inquiries about payroll forms in QuickBooks. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
