Summarize Payroll Data in Excel

Hello there, @knoxfarm2020.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I understand the urgency of fixing the issue with your reports after changing to Excel 365 from Excel 2007.

At this point, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care team to check what's causing this to happen and help you fix it.

You may click this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact. Then, follow these steps below:

  1. Select your QuickBooks Product, then choose your QuickBooks version.
  2. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
  3. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

Let us know if you need more help. Take care!

Big Red Consulting has resolved this.  I have implemented it successfully:

OK.  It works, but =only= if I open the xlt file directly from the temp work folder.  Even then, I have to click on a tab, then click on the Summary tab for it to update.  When I copy this to the QB2019\Components\Templates folder, after copying it there, I get the same macro warning.  When I re-extracted the files to a =different= work folder, I get the the same macro warning.  This is truly weird, but it =is= still MS products.  :-/  So far, I'm not a fan of 365, at all.  I don't know why MS didn't just fix the security issues in 2007, which worked just fine.

I was still having some issues with the "fixed" .xlt from Big Red Consulting and found out that it was caused by an Excel 365 setting, which was causing the sheet to open in Protected Mode (thanks, MS...NOT!).  Once I got that figgered out, it opened just fine.

Huge props to the people at Big Red Consulting (BRC) for coming up with this fix when Intuit hasn't been able, or willing, to in nearly THREE D@M YEARS!  A simple re-write of a canned template was all it took.  I'd say that I can't believe that Intuit couldn't figure this out, but given their track record the past number of years just proves that they're more concerned with making money than actually fixing problems.

You want some "entertaining" reading, go back and see if the huge thread on POS v.9, and that whole debacle, is still around, or if Intuit chickened out and deleted, it.

Thanks for the link.  This is the first time I've been able to run the State Wage Listing in years!

And it is not working for me either - although I had no problem in 2021.  If Quickbooks would fix the Mass family leave reporting I would not need this report but that's been years "in progress" so I don't expect that will happen in my lifetime.    I have 200 employees and am not happy about having to key everything manually.   I think it's time to move on from Quickbooks.

Quickbooks strikes again - if they would fix the Mass Family Leave reporting procedure (in the works for even longer)  we would not need this report. I think it's time to find a different payroll service.

In Sep. 2022, this is still an issue.  Between QB support and Microsoft, each should be able to fix this issue. QB Support is not very helpful, passing you off to the "next level" but never fixing the issue.  I've spent hours trying to get this resolved.  We receive three "phantom" employees on our State Wage Listing Report and the Quarterly Report from the Summarize Payroll Data in Excel function.  None of our employees show on this report yet using the excel function in "More Payroll Reports in Excel" works fine.  Please QuickBooks, can this issue be resolved for once?

I just upgraded to QB Desktop Plus 2023 and I also get those 3 phantom employees on those two reports.  It seems all the other reports in that file are correct.  Prior to upgrading I was using BigRed's fix (for the last 3 years) and it was working just fine.  Now I'm not able to use those reports again.  It's ridiculous that Intuit hasn't fixed this problem yet.  Sigh..........
