Tax Form Reminders

I use QBO but do not use the payroll feature.  It is still set up on my system though.  I like it for the reminders.  How do I clear them though?  I have three "reminders" to file my quarterly taxes that show up every time I sign on.  I filed them already but did it without using QBO.  I would like the reminders to go away but I am afraid of doing something and having QB try to file them all over again.

I'm here to help you clear the payroll reminders in QuickBooks Online.

 

You can try using the browser's incognito feature. Then, check if the payroll reminders are still showing. If they're gone, you can clear the browser's cache.

 

Next, go to the Payroll Settings screen and select No One under the Tax payment reminders drop-down to turn off the notifications.

 

Let me show you how:

  1. Click the Gear icon and select Payroll Settings.
  2. Under the Preferences section, choose Emails.
  3. Select No One under Tax payment reminders.
  4. Click OK.

Just a reminder, when the payroll feature is turned on in QuickBooks Online, it'll incur an additional fee. Since you're not using our payroll feature, you might want to unsubscribe from the feature.

 

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon, then choose Accounts and Settings.
  2. In the Payroll section, click Cancel.
  3. Complete the short survey and select Confirm cancel.

Tax Form Reminders

This did not work.  These reminders are showing up on the dashboard every time that I log on regardless of the computer that I am using.  I have filed all of the forms and paid all of my taxes.  I do not mind having the payroll on the system even though I am not using it because the reminders are very helpful.  I just want to clear them after I am done.  If I turn payroll off and then on again would that work?

Tax Form Reminders

There's no need to turn off your payroll and turn it back again to get rid of the Tasks payroll reminder. Since the forms were filed outside QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can open the forms and deselect the file electronically option. Then, click the Archive tab to remove them in the Dashboard section.

For the tax payments paid outside QBO, you'll need to record them manually in your account. This way the outstanding tax payments will also be removed from the Tasks reminder.
