taxes not being generated in paychecks

I was trying to run payroll and got this message. You've retrieved the latest payroll update and validated your payroll subscription. We strongly recommend that you go on-line again before 11/04/2023 and update payroll. I've updated payroll 10 times since and still getting same message, and no taxes in paychecks.

Let's work together to resolve this and ensure that your taxes are accurately calculated and included in your paychecks, hardware.

It seems you've already tried updating your payroll multiple times without success. Could you please provide me with the steps you have already taken, and are there other things you tried beforehand? While waiting for your response, I'm sharing these steps to fix this now.

Strat updating and creating a backup copy of your QuickBooks data. Afterward, send your payroll data or usage data. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Employees menu.
  2. Select My Payroll Service from the options provided. If you don't see this option, please proceed to the next step.
  3. Choose Send Usage Data from the available options. If the above step is not applicable, go back to the Employees section and select Send Payroll Data from the menu.
  4. In the Send/Receive Payroll Data window, click on Send All to transmit the payroll information. If prompted, enter your payroll service PIN to complete the process.

The next step is to identify the paychecks that are stuck. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Edit menu and select Find.
  2. In the Find window, navigate to the Advanced tab.
  3. Within the Advanced tab, locate the Choose Filter section and pick Detail Level.
  4. Choose Summary Only.
  5. Scroll down in the Filter list and select Online Status.
  6. Select Online to Send to filter for paychecks that haven't been sent.
  7. Click on the Find button to initiate the search. You'll see paychecks that weren’t sent to Intuit.
Take note of the "Number of matches" on the Find window.

After identifying the stuck paychecks, close the Find window. Then, do these:

  1. Run a data verification process and rebuild your data file to resolve any data corruption issues.
  2. Download your payroll updates again.

Finally, you can toggle the stuck paychecks to resolve the issue. Here's how:

  1. Open the oldest stuck paycheck and select the Paycheck Detail button.
  2. In the Review Paycheck window, add the same earnings item as the last item in the list under Earnings.
  3. Ignore the Net Pay Locked message and select No.
  4. Ensure that there are no changes to the tax amounts and net pay, then select OK.
  5. If prompted with a Past Transaction message, select Yes.
  6. Select Save & Close to close the paycheck.
  7. Hit Yes to the Recording Transaction warning message.
  8. Open the paycheck again. Select the Paycheck Details button.
  9. Delete the earnings items that you have just added in the Earnings section.
  10. Make sure that there are no changes to the tax amounts and net pay. Select OK.
  11. Repeat these steps for each of the stuck paychecks found. Then, download the taxable again.

Thanks for getting involved with this thread, AAGlass1.

If you're saying you can't be verified to send payroll data to Intuit because you need a PIN, this would be the same PIN you create when connecting your bank account. This process is covered in the Step 2 section of our Set up your company payroll for direct deposit article, if you still need to create one.

In the event you've already created a PIN, but have lost or forgotten it, it can be reset by clicking Forgot your PIN? on the Payroll Service PIN window when sending payroll data.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your company file as Admin.
  2. In the top menu bar, go to Employees, then Send Payroll Data.
  3. On your Send/Receive Payroll Data window, click Send.
  4. From the Payroll Service PIN window, hit Forgot your PIN?.
  5. Enter your Admin password and press OK.
  6. Create a new PIN and confirm it.
  7. Select Submit.

I've also included a detailed resource about managing payroll PINs which may come in handy moving forward: Change direct deposit PIN

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
