time tracking for payroll

We use time tracking for paying employees. The last time we had payroll I was forced to do an unsceduled payroll on the same day. Now when entering time for one of our employees "notes" appears in the time tracking form and "payroll item" is missing. What have I done?

We can start running the Verify and Rebuild tool. This identifies and resolves common data issues in your company file including your time tracking problem. 

 

Here's how to verify data: 

  1. Choose Window and select Close All.
  2. Choose the File menu.
  3. Click Utilities and then Verify Data.
  4. Click OK when you see the message QuickBooks detected no problem with your data.
  5. If Verify finds an issue with your data, you'll be prompted to Rebuild Now and View Errors.
  6. Click Close or View Errors and take note of the specific error message.

Here's how to rebuild data:

  1. Choose the File menu.
  2. Click Utilities and then Rebuild Data.
  3. Click OK if you receive a prompt to back up your company file. 
  4. Click OK when you get the message Rebuild has completed and proceed to the next step.
  5. Run Verify Data again to make sure there's no error.

After fixing the issue, you should be able to enter time for your employees.
