Upgrading QB Desktop Pro Payroll 2021 to 2022

I'm running into this now too. I was forced to upgrade from 2021 to 2022. Fine -- I paid them. But then see the Import Timer Activities is gone. Doing it via IIF doesn't work due to the notes that are entered. It give you an error. Bought Time -- That also doesn't have an option to upgrade. Called Intuit. They said they'll have a fix tomorrow. Really?

I am with you @GM30 ...I would have only upgraded to QB 2021 (we were on 2019) if I had known that I now have to enter time activities for 6 people, instead of them entering as they go and I uploading it all at once.  Billing has become an instant nightmare.....I will be meeting with my boss to see if we can make a change.  I have used QB for decades as well, but I'm certainly not opposed to finding software that works for me....instead of me having to do ALL the work.

Really.....QuickBooks should consider continuing to work for the people who have supported them for years....I was very disappointed this morning when I sat on hold, got disconnected, called again and was on the phone with someone for nearly two hours again, only for me to tell him that the QB support page had people saying the Timer Activity import had been discontinued.  At that point, when I told him that, he simply said he couldn't help me and I would have to hand enter everything.

Hi there, @brucab,

Before we can accomplish your goal for today, may I ask for a few more details? Like what @Fiat Lux - ASIA, did you perhaps receive an error message? And how did you transfer both companies?

Keep me updated in the comments below. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care always!

Upgrading QB Desktop Pro Payroll 2021 to 2022

FYI - Intuit dropped support for QuickBooks Pro Timer imports after Quickbooks Desktop v2020 and has replaced it with an optional Time Tracking subscription.   https://quickbooks.intuit.com/time-tracking/pricing/

Any response from the development team about support for the Quickbooks Pro Timer?   Offering a subscription to replace a system that was not broken or to revert to manual re-entry are not solutions I expect from Intuit.

If our only option is to "Send Feedback Online" into a nameless, unaccountable repository, at least let us see how our feedback is being responded to by Intuit.   I'm looking for a tracking system where users can vote on what is most important to them, and we can see that the development team is focusing on things that the paying user base actually wants.

What is the solution to this?  I just found out after being forced to upgrade to Enterprise 2023 that I cannot import timer activities from the Quickbooks Pro Timer!  Other than entering manually on my end, the only solutions I see are to pay $$ for the Time Subscription.  I cannot import IIF files without errors and I cannot view the errors to know what the errors are!

Is there a way we can see and vote on the list of suggestions and feedback already provided?   Feedback with no response or any sign it is even being reviewed does not encourage more feedback.

You are not alone.   Purposely disabling features that have worked flawlessly for decades to force a switch to a paid subscripion product, forcing users to upgrade software every year, or even purchase a subscription product that changes at the providers discretion all just elevated our total cost of ownership for the product.   While I do understand that Intuit has to fund ongoing development in an evolving environment (OS updates, industry regulations, etc.) I hope they have not concluded that breaking features that worked well for decades or forcing users to upgrade to an inferior experience is the way to go for maintaining brand loyalty.

It's absolutely insane that Intuit would REMOVE functionality. Our POS software outputs a Timer Activity file to import into Quickbooks and we have been doing that for about 15 years. An "upgrade" should NEVER remove currently functionality. Shame on Intuit!
