Use class field for year. Intuit corrected a payroll entry that showed up as 2023, but now Nov & Dec payroll show as 2024. How can I change the class?

The transactions were in the correct class on Jan 7 but were in the wrong class after Intuit rep fixed the current year problem.  Online and phone help have been dead ends, so I would like to determine if I can change this myself.

I'm happy to assist you today, usersusanpintus. I can guide you through the process of changing the class assigned to your employee in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To modify the class for your employees, you should access the Payroll settings and then navigate to the Accounting section. I'll provide the detailed steps below so you can proceed accordingly. First, here's how:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the top-right corner, click the Gear icon.
  3. Under Your Company column, select Payroll settings.
  4. Go to the Accounting section, and then click the Pencil icon.
  5. Hover to the Class Tracking section, and then press the Pencil icon.
  6. Choose or enter the account name exactly as it appears in your chart of accounts for each employee.
  7. Select Continue, then Done.

Additionally, here's an article to help you manage your employees in QBO:

That works going forward, and is what I do every January.  When I did it in January for 2024, it did not work for one employee.  An Intuit customer rep helped me fix that.  NOW The problem is that transactions that were correct for 2023 show as 2024.  They were transacted in November and December 2023 and were previously correct.  They should NOT say 2024, and are making all my year-end reports wrong.  I need to correct the 2023 transactions that mysteriously moved to 2024 after the Intuit correction on Jan 15..
