Join nowIn Quickbooks desktop I need to change an employee's W-4 from 2020 or newer back to prior to 2020 and in the pulldown menu it won't let me change it back, it is greyed out. Why don't I have the option to do this?

@FLH1 RE: Why don't I have the option to do this?
No one does. For some unknowable reason, Intuit decided that once the option is changed to 2020 or newer, then you can't change it back. Of course, at the same time you, the employer, cannot demand that an employee fill out a new W-4, and so you're stuck.
Whoever made this change has no clue how the real world works, or just doesn't care.

Then, let's update your Payroll:
I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team if you encounter the same issue. This way, they can check this matter further and provide additional troubleshooting steps to resolve it.
After you have set up everything, you can assign pay schedules for your employees in QuickBooks.
Please comment on this thread if you require further assistance setting up employees' information. Have a great day.

You really don't know how QuickBooks works, do you? Clearly, you didn't even try following your own instructions, since they'll have absolutely no effect.

Doesn't make much sense not being able to change it. Thanks for your reply.
