W3 form

Hello there, @nelson19465. Let me share some ideas on how to fix an incorrect W3 in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Please note that a submitted form cannot be undone or deleted. However, you can file an amendment form to address any concerns. You can create a W-2c and W-3c to fix this. When making a W-2c and W-3c in QBDT, print them on perforated paper, not pre-printed. File the W-2c and W-3c manually with the Social Security Administration. Follow the steps below to assist you in filing the W2-c and W-3c forms:

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop, click Employees and go to Payroll Center
  2. 'Select the File Forms tab, then choose Annual Form W-2c/W-3c - corrected Wage and Tax Statement, and Create Form
  3. Click the last name of the employee and select OK.
  4. Choose the employee who needs the W-2c and click Review/Edit.
  5. Enter your answer to: Have you made the W-2 corrections in QuickBooks Desktop?
  • If Yes - The Correct information column on the W-2c should reflect the current QuickBooks Desktop info. For the items that need correction, enter the Previously Reported amount.
  • If No - The W-2c form requires a review of each worksheet to ensure the Correct Information column is accurate and matches the Previously Reported column from QuickBooks Desktop.

6. Review the pages and click Next to see all.

7. Click the box Check if this is a W-2c (corrected W-2).

8. Fill in only the lines where the fix is essential in both the Previously Reported and Correct Information columns. Do this on Federal, State, and local info as needed.

9. Remove the amounts from the remaining lines. Right-click on the quantity and select Override, then delete the amounts. Do this on Federal, State, and local info as needed.

Don't hesitate to reply on the thread for other queries regarding filing forms inside QBDT. I'll get back to you. Take care!
