We have next day funding with QBO payroll, but how do I finalize it to the bank faster? Some banks release 1 day before payday. If the bank allows how do I get it there?

Some bank allow 1-2 days posting before payroll date. As long as they have the data. Like Chime. But our employees aren't seeing it early. Is it because QBO gives me until the day before payroll to submit? It doesn't get to the bank until 5pm the day before, I would like to have this sent to the bank earlier for our employees to have this option (If their bank does this, not all do)

I appreciate you for sharing in-depth details of your payroll concern, @misty23.

Let me provide some information about the funding time in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll.

Yes, you're right that QBO will give you until 5:00 PM PST in the day to submit your payroll. Since the bank already claimed they could post it earlier, you'll want to apply for our same-day deposit instead so it will be posted earlier. Also, please note that this is exclusive to QBO Payroll Premium or Elite.

You can submit your request online. You'll need to provide 6 months of your most recent bank statements and upload them with your request. Once done, our team will contact you once your information has been reviewed. For more details, please check out this article to update your direct deposit funding time in QuickBooks.

In addition, you can also pull up a variety of payroll reports in QuickBooks. This will give you a closer look at your employees' total wages, deductions, and tax information in a certain period. Kindly refer to this article: Run payroll reports in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

I’ll be here anytime if you have additional payroll concerns. Just press the Reply button below, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Take care!

Thank you for your reply. Same day and next day funding appear to do the same thing. If I'm running payroll 2, 3 or 4 days before the pay date, it's still not sending the data to the bank until the day before at 5pm. I've been running payroll on Mondays with pay day on Fridays, it still gives me the option to edit the time card until 5pm on Thursday which leads me to believe that it's not sending to the bank until this day. How would same day fix this?

I appreciate you for getting back to us, misty23.

I'm here to share some information about processing payroll.

I can see how helpful it would be to pay employees earlier than the expected date. This option depends on your financial institution, though.

QuickBooks can only process and send the information to your bank based on your funding time.

I've added this reference for more information about payroll lead-time: What ae the funding times?

I'm just a few clicks away if you have more questions about payroll. I'll get back to you the soonest.

I'm sending payroll 4 days before the paid date. Therefore, it should be next business day, or sometime after depending on the bank. QBO is not sending the information to the bank when I send on my end, which is way before paid date. It doesn't matter how far in advance I send payroll through, QBO does not send until the day before at 5pm (When I can no longer make changes) My question is, how do I make QBO finalize my submittal?

Hello misty23,

Thank you for visiting our Community! My first question is could you share the name of the bank you are using so I can see if there is an open investigation? Secondly, I would appreciate it if you could share the steps you use to submit direct deposit payroll. Knowing this information will help me tremendously. I will be looking out to your response. See you in a few.

Hello,

The bank we are using is PNC, however, it was BBVA before that with the same result.

I don't believe the issue is with the Bank. QBO lets me make any changes I want to the created paychecks until Thursday at 5pm with pay day being on Friday. I feel there should be an option to finalize payroll before this date if I want it to go to the bank.

My process is:

Navigate to the payroll overview window > Run Payroll > Select the pay schedule (which is called Weekly) > Continue > Add employees hours and then click on "Preview Payroll" > "Run Payroll"

Hi there, @misty23

Thanks for taking the time to get back with us.

At this time, payroll doesn't have the option to clock the payroll after running it. However, it will allow you to edit it until the processing date.

I understand how beneficial having the option to clock the payroll after running it would be. With that said, I think this would be the perfect opportunity to send this suggestion to our Product Development Team. This way, our developers can review the request and consider it in a future update. You can use the steps I've included below to submit your feedback request.

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then click on Next to submit feedback.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Take care!

There are plenty of companies out there that run payroll and send it to the bank early. Pay days come early for some. I know with payroll companies you can send the payroll to the bank early, there has to be a functionality of qbo that will send payroll to the bank before that 5pm deadline the day before payday.
