Why can I not edit a filed W2?

I looked up the steps to edit an employees W2; which is following Go to the Employees tab and select Payroll Tax Forms & W-2s.
Choose Process Payroll Forms.
Double-click the Annual Form W-2/W-3 Wage and Tax Statement/Transmittal.
Enter the correct year, then click on OK.
Mark the employees you want to view.
Click Review/Edit. THIS STEP Payroll Tax Forms & W-2 DOES NOT SHOW on the employees tab. Please assist!

Why can I not edit a filed W2?

Thanks for joining us here in the Community foroum, Jennifer. I am here to assist you with your inquiry about editing tax forms.

Based on the information you shared,  the steps you mentioned are intended for the Desktop version of QuickBooks.

For QuickBooks Online, editing an already filed W2 form is currently unavailable. To make corrections, you will need to manually create and file W-2C and W-3C forms with the Social Security Administration.

To do this, see the General Instructions for Forms W-2c and W-3c section in the General Instructions for Forms W-2 and W-3.

Here's an article that talks about correcting tax forms in QBO: Fix An Incorrect W-2 And W-3.

Let me also share these articles in case you need more resources when paying and filing payroll taxes in QBO:

Let me know if you need any other assistance with filing tax forms or have additional payroll questions, Jennifer. The Community is always available to provide support and help in any way we can.
