Why can't employees update their payrol deposits?

Why are employees not able to make changes to direct deposit information? They shouldn't have to wait around for their admin to decide they feel like being nice.

Why can't employees update their payrol deposits?

I'm here to share details about managing and updating employees' direct deposit information in QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP), @neschram.

For the security of your payroll account, only the admin is authorized to make any changes to it (i.e., employees' direct deposit information). They're the ones who process or run the company payroll that's why they know when to update employee bank details.

To update employees' direct deposit payroll information, here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu.
  2. Choose Employees.
  3. Select the name of the employee.
  4. Click Edit ✎ beside the Pay section.
  5. Go to the How do you want to pay [employee]? section and click Edit ✎.
  6. Enter the new bank account information.
  7. Select Save80.PNG

In keeping with this, I'm adding this article to further guide you in managing your payroll and employees using QBOP: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about setting up and editing payroll, money movement, and benefits. You can also click the + More topics button to view other selections.

Let me know in the comments if you have other concerns about managing employees' direct deposit information in QBOP. I'm always around to help. Keep safe always, @neschram.

Why can't employees update their payrol deposits?

So, to make sure I understand this correctly:

While new employees need to sign in and add their own tax and direct deposit information, it is considered a security concern to let them later modify the same information? Then, wouldn't it be a security concern to let them add it in the first place? I'm not really trying to argue as it doesn't change anything. I just can't comprehend how one is fine and the other is a security concern.
