Why does Quickbooks online hold your money hostage? I was trying to pay a sizeable amount out to our owner for distribution and quickbooks would not let me. Explain

I have a big problem with quickbooks telling me what or what I cannot pay out of our bank account.  I pay for your services but that does not allow you to run our business.

Hi @Pattysue24

This isn't the kind of experience we want you to have while using QuickBooks. Allow me to share a few things and help you successfully process your company owner's distribution.

If you're using QuickBooks BiilPay to pay for the company owner's distribution, know that there's a $2,999.99 limit. This means that you'll be able to process payments provided that the maximum payment amount is less than $3,000. Otherwise, we encourage you to make alternate arrangements.

If you have more questions about this, or the distribution (or payment transaction) you processed was put on hold, I recommend reaching out to our BillPay support through your QuickBooks Online account. They have the necessary tools to pull up your account in a safe environment and help you how to proceed. Here's how to contact them:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to Help (?) at the top right.
  3. Select or type Contact Us.
  4. Enter your concern (for example, "BillPay limit"), then click Let's talk.
  5. Choose Start a chat to get started.

If you're using QuickBooks Online Payroll to pay the company owner, there's a good chance that you've already reached the direct deposit limit. We put this limit in place for security purposes. But you can request a limit increase. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear (⚙) icon, then Payroll settings.
  2. From Direct deposit, select Edit ✎.
  3. Choose Request limit increase.
  4. Enter the amount you need and the type of increase.
  5. Select Done.
  6. Click Save, then Done.

I'm adding this article in case you need it in the future: Enter and manage bills and bill payments in QuickBooks Online

I appreciate your understanding and please do keep me posted if you have any other concerns about QuickBooks and your account. I'll always be around to lend a hand.

I am not in billpay. I have no desire to purchase another program from y’all.  How can you tell me how much I can pay from our account.  Are we living in Nazi Germany? If I want to pay 250,000 and I have it in my bank what gives you the right to not allow it? Why does the payroll monitor what I am paying anyway?
