Let's get this working for you, richardl2.

Behavior in QuickBooks Online (QBO) such as getting a blank white screen is often caused by too many cache files stored on your browser. That said, we'll want to perform a few troubleshooting to better isolate this issue.

Let's start by accessing your account through a private browser or incognito window. This is a good place to start the troubleshoot since this type of browser doesn't store cache.

Here are some keyboard shortcuts that you can refer:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

Try running the payroll reports again. You can refer to this article about running payroll reports in QBO.

If it works, go back to your original browser and clear the cache. this eliminates unnecessary data and refreshes the program. Otherwise, you can try other supported browsers to help narrow down the cause of this behavior.

You can also have this article to help you with future tasks and tips when using QBO, you might want to visit our Help Articles.

Hi, richardl2.

Hope you’re doing great. I wanted to see how everything is going about generating the payroll reports you had yesterday. Was it resolved? Do you need any additional help or clarification? If you do, just let me know. I’d be happy to help you at any time.

Looking forward to your reply. Have a pleasant day ahead!

I can run reports if I access QB from a browser but not the app - and I have cleared the cache. This is not convenient. I'd like to work from one window, not 2.

Good afternoon, @HugoSyd

Thanks for joining in on this thread. Allow me to provide you with some information.

If you're using the QuickBooks Online (QBO) mobile app, the only reports you can run are the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss. Running specific reports can only be done in a web browser. Here's how to get there:

  1. Go to the three horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Press the All tab.
  3. Scroll down until "Reports" and choose either one.

If you're referring to the QuickBooks Online Desktop App, then I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting steps in this guide. If you're talking about something else, please provide me with some further information about this problem.

Let me know if this helps. Should you need any more details, feel free to ask. I'm always here to lend a helping hand. Have a great day!

The link to troubleshooting is a denied access for me.

I work off the desktop app for QBOnline. Unless I need a payroll report and then I have to open a browser and work from there.

Hello, HugoSyd. Allow me to chime in and provide you the steps on how to troubleshoot your QuickBooks Online Desktop App so you can generate the report without getting a blank white screen.

When the application is not fully functional, performing the recommended basic troubleshooting steps will resolve the issue. First, clear the app's cache files. Doing so helps in fixing any sorts of errors in the system. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Click Help on the navigation bar at the top.
  2. Select Reset App Data.
  3. Allow a moment for the process to complete, and then close the app.
  4. Be sure to right-click the app and Run as Administrator when re-opening.

If the issue persists, I'd suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the application by following the outlined steps in this article: QuickBooks App for Windows and Mac: General support.  Also, this write-up contains more details regarding the application's system requirements.

However, if the issue persists, as a workaround, you can generate the payroll reports on a web browser. Also, I'd recommend getting in touch with our QuickBooks Support to have this investigated

Additionally, you can customize the report to get the specific details you need and memorize it to save its current customization settings. It serves as your record and helps you quickly access it for future use.

Let me know the result of this troubleshooting in the comment below. I need to make sure this is resolved and you're able to generate the report you need. Have a great rest of your day!
