After latest update can't save to any of my mapped drives

After installing update v 33 for Desktop 2023 we can no longer access our mapped drives - which is where we backup our company file.  QB in it's infinite wisdome has apparently deemed it only appropriate to back a file up to the machine on which it lives.  So annoying.  The online upload has never worked.  And this was after trying to do the update and have it hang at writing registry values.  Dis a bit of research and discovered that it is a known issue (but Intuit doesn't let you know there will be an issue, you have discover it yourself and search out the answer yourself).

Sorry if you fixed this already and I'm repeating information.

I've ran into this a few times. I usually wind up making a registry change. Windows has something called "Linked Connections" - ocassionally this needs to be enabled to see mapped drives in some software like Quickbooks.

As with anything, if you choose to adjust the registry, make sure you run a backup and use caution to not change something accidentally. Microsoft has an article called "Mapped drives are not available from an elevated prompt when UAC is configured to Prompt for credentials". Method 2 is the change that I've used but that's not to say the Method 1 will not work. Microsoft says it applies to Win7 and Win Server 2012, but I've definitely run into it with Win10 and Win 11.

It seems that running QuickBooks "As Administrator" disables mapped drive access. Also, it disabled all drag-and-drop of attachments.

Do not Run "As Administrator".
