I need to use a back up file to start a new company on my trial Desktop Enterprise 20.0. How can I do this?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Back up file to start new company

Good afternoon, @Dawn75.

I hope your day is going well. I'd be glad to provide information on how to backup your company file.

You can automatically backup your file which means QuickBooks does it for you.

Here's how to backup your company file automatically:

  1. Go to the File menu, then select Switch to Single-User Mode.
  2. Choose the File menu again and hover over Back up Company, then click on Create Local Backup.
  3. In the window, pick Local Backup, then Next.
  4. In the Local Backup Only section, select Browse and choose where you want to save your backup company file.
  5. Click on Complete Verification.
  6. Pick OK, and then Save it now and schedule future backs, choose Next.
  7. Go to Save backup copy automatically when I close my company file checkbox.
  8. When you're ready, select Finish.

Also, after you've followed the steps above, you can restore your backup company file and here's how:

  1. Select the File menu and go to Restore a backup copy.
  2. Choose Next and click on Local Backup.
  3. Pick Next, locate your company file. It should look like: (You company name).qbb.
  4. Click Open, and then when you're ready, select Save.

That's all for it. Now, you have a new company file you can work from.
