"Error 1327" . The drive "P:\" is not valid when installing on windows 10 PC

I am in the process of installing QB 2022 on a new computer that is running Windows 10.  I run the install as an administrator and get the Error 1327.  I need help installing this version on the computer as I dont have the ability to upgrade QB 2024 and/or upgrade to Windows 11.

Do you have NAS? Do you have media folders (videos, photos, music, etc...) pointing to the P: drive? You must change them to point to the default folder (right-click>properties>location>restore default), and you should be able to install QB without any issues. No need to un-map the drive.

I appreciate all your efforts in dealing with this, @Caleb 5678.

Let's work together to resolve the error 1327 issue you're facing when installing on Windows 10 PC for QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

To begin with, error 1327 typically occurs when the drive mentioned in the error message is not available during installation. It can also happen if your computer gets disconnected from a network drive or from a portable storage device such as a USB flash drive or digital camera and is then removed.

In addition, if you removed a portable storage device, try reconnecting it and attempting the installation again. If the error still occurs, restart your computer and try again. However, if the error persists, follow the solutions below to resolve the errors. Before doing so, please note: when disconnecting any portable storage device in Windows, Intuit strongly recommends that the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Microsoft Windows System Tray (located in the lower right of the Desktop screen) is selected, and then follow the instructions below:

Solution 1: Install while logged off the network

  1. On the keyboard, press the Windows logo + R to open the Run window.
  2. Type Control Panel and select OK.
  3. Click the View by drop-down arrow and select Small icons.
  4. Open the Network and Sharing Center.
  5. On the left pane, choose Change adapter setting.
  6. Right-click each of the adapters listed and select Disable where available. Important: Messages that the connection has been lost may come up. DO NOT reconnect to the network.
  7. When all connections have been disabled, leave this window open and install QuickBooks Desktop again.
  8. When the installation completes, return to the Network Connections window and enable the network connections.

As an alternative, you can also create a new Windows user and use it to install.

I'll also share this article to learn how to activate your QBDT after installing it: Activate QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
