Financial Exchange between POS and desktop

Hello, Diana.

I'll guide you on how you can transfer data from a specific date between POS and QuickBooks Desktop.

You can use the Recover Data function to bring in transactions from a specific start date. Here's how:

  1. Go to Financial, then select  Financial center.
  2. Click Show Advanced Options.
  3. Proceed with Recover Data Now.
  4. Click Continue on the warning message.
  5. Enter the date range.
  6. Type Yes in the confirmation window and click Continue.

It should be noted that this is a manual way of transferring the data. Be careful when using this since this might duplicate your transactions or customers list.

You can use the End of Day procedure to bring in the succeeding data after doing the Recover Data process.

  1. Go to the Point Of Sale's overview screen, then click End of Day Procedure.
  2. On the End of Day window, ensure that the Exchange data with QuickBooks check box is selected.
  3. Click Start.

Happy to help you out again if you have more questions about your data in the POS program or in QuickBooks Desktop. I'm also open to any other concerns you might have for both platforms.

How do I do the exchange when the POS and QB Desktop Pro are not on the same computer?

Financial Exchange between POS and desktop

Hello there, @marlabt

Thank you for posting here in the Community. Let me share these requirements for transferring or syncing your data from POS to QuickBooks via the Financial Exchange process.

Make sure to meet the following before you may connect QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale (QB POS) to your QuickBooks Desktop program and share data:

  1. Install QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Enterprise on the same computer as Point of Sale. Keep in mind that POS v18 will work with any version of Quickbooks Desktop supported.
  2. Make a back of your QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale and QuickBooks Desktop files. Create a name for the backup that will help you distinguish it from other backups. You can use QBPOS backup before QB.
  3. Do the following in QuickBooks Desktop:
  • Turn on sales tax
  • Turn on inventory
  • Set your preferences to allow Financial Exchange even if QuickBooks Desktop isn't running. Executing Financial Exchange should be when QuickBooks Desktop is open. You can also do it once closed.

Set the following QuickBooks options to make this possible:

  1. From the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  2. Choose Integrated Applications, then go to the Company Preferences tab.
  3. Click QuickBooks Point of Sale from the Applications list, then choose Properties.
  4. Select Allow this application to read and modify this company file from the Access Rights tab.
  5. Hit OK in the Properties window and the Preferences window.

Once done, the data from your POS system will automatically sync with QuickBooks. It will keep your accounting system updated.

If you still have questions or concerns about data Financial Exchange, please stop by at any time. I'll be available for you. Take care and enjoy your day.

Hello,

I wanted to know if others who had POS v19  upgraded to Enterprise 2024 and if the financial exchange continued to work?

Hello,

I am wondering if companies using POS prior to the discontinuation of the POS program...

If they had upgraded to Enterprises 2024 and if the programs talked?  If the Financial Exchange worked?

Hi there, @MichelleCBF. Thanks for joining the thread.

Regarding your first question, companies using QuickBooks Desktop before discontinuing the POS program could still upgrade to QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 2024. Due to the discontinuation of QuickBooks Desktop POS, Financial Exchange is no longer available.

Moreover, Intuit has partnered with Shopify to bring you a modern retail solution that integrates with QuickBooks Desktop Financial Software. To facilitate this integration, businesses can utilize the QuickBooks Desktop Connector App to migrate their data to Shopify and establish a connection with QBDT.

For more details, you can refer to the resource:: Learn more about QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale discontinuation.

I've also included these articles as references for Shopify and QuickBooks Desktop integration.

Please feel free to ask if you have any other questions regarding the discontinuation of the Point of Sale program or any other QuickBooks-related concerns. I'll be happy to provide clarification and assistance. Take care.
