Join nowI have an old, 2011, copy of Quickbooks desktop that I don't use a lot but I need to access it. It was used on an older computer that is no longer working. How can I remove the user on it so I can use it on my new computer?
Hi, debbierossmiller.
Let me help you and share some insights on how to use the QBDT v2011 on your new computer.
Close QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale, and use the Exit option in the File menu. Don't click the X in the upper right corner. If closing the program doesn't release the licenses, restart all workstations to prevent POS from detecting too many open workstations.
If the error persists, proceed to Solution 4.
For more info, check this article on preventing POS from thinking there are too many workstations open: Close all workstations.
Ensure you prepare the product and the license numbers since QuickBooks will ask you to register the product again. If you'll be asked for a validation code, I'd suggest contacting live support since it's an unsupported version.
I'd leave this article that you may use in the future references:

Can you access CAMPS as the Primary Contact and find your license code there?
