Hover the mouse on the installer file, click the right button and choose Properties. Find the Compatibility tab and choose Win 7. Then run the installer file as Administrator.

ps. something wrong with your capslock?

Sorry about the capslock.   I do not know where to find the installer file.  Microsoft 10 does not allow me to download the QB program so there is no file for that.  I downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).  That option did not work for the 1603 fix.  I am stumped.

QuickBooks 2010 is not compatible with Microsoft 10. That is why it keeps cutting off during your installation. Other possibility is the system of the laptop.

Which license code do you have? Pro 2010 or Premier 2010? Send a private message to me. We may help you to share the installer file.

I have QB Pro2010 and prefer to not invest in another product.   Any step by step assistance would be appreciated.

If you're having the same issue listed in this thread, I recommend following the steps mentioned by my colleague @KlentB above. They'll give you more information about the Windows 10 supported versions of QuickBooks. He also suggests that you can downgrade your operating system, so QuickBooks 2010 is compatible with older versions of Windows by reaching out to your IT support team.

So what exactly was the fix?  Having the same issue.  I also do not want to invest in new software,  just want ti install on a new computer!  TIA

Let me share some info on how you can install an older version of QuickBooks Desktop on a new computer. My colleague, @KlentB, give this solution above this thread.

Older versions of QuickBooks will be compatible with the older Windows operating system. You can consult your IT specialist to guide you on how to downgrade your OS so that you can seamlessly install an old QuickBooks version to a new computer with an old OS.

Once done, you'll want to install QuickBooks with these steps:

1. Open the installer file you've downloaded (QuickBooks.exe).
2. Follow the onscreen instructions.
3. Accept the software license agreement, then select Next.
4. Enter your Product and License numbers, then click Next.
5. Select Express and then Next.
6. Select Install.
7. When it finishes, select Open QuickBooks to get started.

For the detailed procedures, you can refer to this article: Install QuickBooks Desktop. It includes a link to get started with QuickBooks found on the Learn more about QuickBooks Desktop section.

If you've saved a backup file, you can then restore it once you have successfully installed QuickBooks.

I just tried compatibility mode for Win 7 on Win 10. I'm also trying to install Quickbooks 2010 on Win 10 v2004. Without compatibility mode it complained about Flash and failed. I set compatibility mode to Win 7 and then it complained about Internet Explorer 8, to enable it in the add remove programs or something. But all I can enable is IE 11. So I think either way it just won't install in Win 10.

It seems with the recent updates, Win 10 is only allowed to run IE 10 and IE 11. As for the last workaround, try install it on compatibility mode Win 8. If the same error persists, you don't have any choice but upgrading your QB Desktop version. You may still have time until next week to purchase QBD 2020 license with a lower price than QBD 2021.

I was in the process of updating an old Win 7 desktop w/QB 2007 to an SSD and Win 10. I cloned the HD to an SSD then did the upgrade to Win 10. I couldn't update the '07 files while in Win 10 due to QB 2010 not installing.

So what I ended up doing was putting the old slow HD back in w/Win 7 and installed QB 2010. Opened and updated the 3 files in 2010. Then installed QB 2013 and opened and updated the 3 files. Then installed QB 2019 and opened and updated the 3 files. Made .QBB backups then moved those files to the SSD w/Win 10 and purchased and installed QBD 2021. Then I restored from backup and updated the files into 2021. All went smoothly. What a freakin pain to do it this way. Wouldn't it be nice if 2021 just knew how to handle a 2007 file? They created the file formats, right?

About your suggestion to upgrade an outdated file to the newest version (2007 to 2021), this is a great idea. However, due to compatibility issues and system requirements of every version, it will require you to go through the manual file upgrade.

You might cut the stages by converting QBD 2010 company file on the trial license of QBD 2015. Then open the converted file on QBD 2021 directly.

What's done is done, and doesn't need to be done again. Good luck finding QBD 2015 trial. Intuit only keeps the most current QB trial license in the link everyone passes around to download a trial version of QB. But I will try and remember this for future customer conversions.
