I am getting an error message stating "Something went wrong, error with connection" whenever I try to categorize transactions. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!

I am here to assist you, Matt. To ensure a seamless categorization process.

In case of any connectivity issues, I suggest restarting your router, logging out and then signing in again to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

We can also perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate this error. I recommend using an incognito browser to check if the issue is related to your browser. Sometimes, the data becomes outdated and needs to be cleaned up to eliminate this error.

Here are the keyboard shortcut keys to access an incognito browser:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Once you have successfully categorized transactions, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Clearing your browser's cache can help resolve any temporary glitches that could be causing the error message.

I'll be leaving a couple of articles that'll help you manage your transactions to maintain accurate financial records:
