Is it possible to migrate from QBO to desktop?

Hi there, @curiepta.

Yes, it's possible to migrate your data file from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop. Here's how to do it in your end.

Before we start, you can check this important information to know before exporting data files from QuickBooks Online to Desktop.

  • QuickBooks Online is compatible with the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer in Windows 7.
  • To use the export feature, you must be logged in as an Admin user on both QuickBooks Online and Desktop for this process to work.
  • You must have a supported version of QuickBooks Desktop for Windows installed on the PC in which you are performing the export. For access to trial versions of the desktop program, for the purposes of export, see QuickBooks Desktop trial links.

To get started let's set up your security settings through Internet Explorer. Here's how:

  1. Right-click the Internet Explorer icon and select Run as administrator.
  2. Go to the Gear⚙ icon, then Internet Options.
  3. Click Security, then Trusted sites.
  4. Select Sites.
  5. In the Add this website to the zone field, enter: *.intuit.com.
  6. Make sure Require server verification (https: ) for all sites in this zone is unchecked.
  7. Close the Trusted Sites window.
  8. Make sure Enable Protected Mode is unchecked.
  9. Select Apply, then click Okay. Leave Internet Explorer open.

As always, you can refer to this detailed article for further guidance on how to export your data file: Export your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done, run a Balance Sheet and a Profit and Loss report to ensure that the numbers match. Make sure to set them on an Accrual basis and for All Dates in both programs.

Also, I'm including this additional article that will help you in converting your file: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.

Please know that I'm just a post away if you need anything else. I'll be happy to help. Take good care!
