Password to install older version backup

I had Quick Books WIndows  2012.  Between then and now I changed to Mac.  I also feel email address may have changed.  When Mac updated OS I moved to QB Online.  When I discovered what 5 General Ledgers would cost me I can not afford it.  I have Win Backups updated with Mac on a USB.  In installing the backups  between asking for company ID and password I receive a continuous Wrong password or company ID.  Please, Please can anyone assist me.  I am about to lose 7 years worth of data.

Thank you Greatly for anyone that could assist me.

Thank you Again!

Michael

Password to install older version backup

Hello, Michael.

I'll outline a couple of handy details to help you recover your credentials and get back to business in no time.

Since you've migrated from QuickBooks Desktop Windows to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, we can reset your password by following the steps below.

If you're an admin of your company file, I'll show you how to do it:

  1. Go to the Password field, select the lock icon. You can see a pop-up menu listing recovery email addresses.
  2. Select an email address you have access to, then click OK.
  3. You’ll get an email from QuickBooks that can guide you through creating a new admin password.

Otherwise, follow these steps to reset a non-admin password. Thus, only the company admin can change a credential for non-admin users. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to the company file as the admin.
  2. From the Company menu, select Users and Passwords.
  3. Choose the user you want to change the password, then select Edit.
  4. Select the lock icon, then enter the new password.
  5. Click Save.

Moreover, I've got this handy guide for a detailed procedure for QBDT for Windows: Reset your password for QuickBooks Desktop.

Just a heads up, know what data isn't converted if you want to migrate to QBO in the future. Check this out: What to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online for more details.

I'll be around if you need further assistance with migrating your data and managing your company files. I'm very eager to help. Take care always.

You can purchase a 3rd party password removal service as the last resort.

Thank you for your reply.  Would you happen to have an address or name of the third party removal party system?

Thank you very much.
