Preparing for QBO upload

We are preparing to switch to QBO.  Currently we run QB Premier version 2019 on a server with a 3 user license.  This is really overkill since we have set our current operation to single user.  We could move the company file to our local computer and  off of the server. Not sure how this works but I think the data base manager is running on the server.  Would there be a need to have it running on a local workstation since all it is doing is accessing the company file on the server.  So I assume QB is running on the workstation but no hosting is done there.  What do I need to do to move the company file to a local computer and run QB so it does not go out to access the server.   I am concerned that opening a company file in a local folder may still be routed through the server and back because of the configuration.  Is this an issue?

Preparing for QBO upload

Open the file on your server as usual and create a backup file (i.e QBB). Copy the backup file to your local machine, run your QB Desktop, and restore the file locally. Then every time you open the file, you can make sure where the location of the file is by pressing the f2 key or ctrl+1.

Keep in mind, when you're ready to migrate to QBO, make sure to do so before May 31, 2022. Otherwise, you may need to use the trial version of QBD 2022 to upgrade your file(s) and migrate to QBO.
