Buy now & saveWe have been using QuickBooks 2022 for a couple of years on our network and it was working just fine. I even used it this morning to access our company files from a local network client system. I upgraded to 2024 this morning and now it doesn't work anymore. I called support, but the support person said that my network is not setup and to call our network administrator. I am the network administrator. I showed her that I could in fact access all of the company files from the other computer. In fact, I can open it on the client or the host just fine by itself, but not while the other one was open. We should have 3 user licenses, but QuickBooks Product Information says we only have one. The support person could only speak in circles and could not point me in any direction to help resolve this.
Has QuickBooks changed how it accesses the network since the 2022 version? If not, is anyone familiar with this problem?
Using QuickBooks Desktop on a network environment remains the same, regardless if you're using the the most recent version or an older one, ann51.
Please know that we always aim to provide straightforward answers, especially when it’s about something as critical as user licenses. Allow me to provide guidance to help with the upgrade.
First, let's make sure that the license for 2024 has 3 licenses in your account in the Customer Account Management Portal Site (CAMPS). Here's how:
Next, compare the details with what you have in the installed software.
If the license shows only one user, I'd recommend reaching out to our chat or phone support teams once again. They can take a look at your account and help you further with your license for 2024.
If it says 3-user, you can temporarily uninstall and reinstall the software. This refreshes the installation and can resolve license-related issues.
Use these articles as your guide:
Additionally, I’ll provide links to articles that serve as extra resources regarding the newest version you've just installed:
Feel free to return to the forum anytime you have further questions as you navigate through the newest version of QuickBooks. We'll be ready to provide prompt answers and assistance.
Can you login to CAMPS and find your license code for QB Desktop 2024 there?
CAMPS says, "Users allowed: 3". But the Product Information page in QuickBooks says, "User Licenses 1".
On further reflection, it seems to me that the last time I upgraded, from 2021 to 2022, that I had a network issue then, as well. If my memory serves me correctly, I called support and that person walked me quickly through the steps to resolve the issue either with the Tool Hub, Network Manager, or tweaking files in the File Explorer.
I am a former IT professional that knows something about networking. And I am trying to dig through that stuff on the support site, but it is fairly complex and covers every possible way to install QuickBooks instead of a clear path for each way to install it.
When I run a scan in the Database Server Manager, it detects a problem and then says, "Repair successful!!" each time. File Doctor says, "Hosting Mode is OFF" and "QBDBMgrN not running on this computer." It has a link for "See how to fix these problems" but that is what led me to the pervious paragraph. And just attempting to log into a company file on two computers suggests that I could have a firewall issue and refers me to, what appears to be a non-existent program called, "QuickBooks Connection Diagnostic Tool".
Which direction do you think I should try next?

Thanks for getting back with the Community, ann51. I appreciate your detailed information.
Since you're continuing to experience problems upgrading QuickBooks, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up the account in a secure environment and conduct further research with you.
They can be reached while using QuickBooks.
Here's how:
Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.
If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a wonderful Monday!
As mentioned before, the Care Team just said that I need to contact a network administrator and I am the network administrator.
I am coming to the community because I cannot get help from the Care Team.
Anything else to try?

Make sure you are using the sane license code and product code on your machine and CAMPS.
Yes, I am. I had to log into the website to get the code and then copied and pasted it to a text file that I could access from each computer. I then copied and pasted it into each install.
Lastly, install your QB Desktop 2024 license on a computer that has never run QB before and open the sample file. Press CTRL 1 to check the license status. How many user license can you see?
